The Canadian Dental Association recommends that a child's first dental visit take place just after their first birthday. While this may seem early, it helps the child feel comfortable with the sights, smells, and sounds of our dental office. Parents will also have the opportunity to learn the role they play in their child's oral health.

We want to do everything we can to ensure your child has a positive first impression during their visit. We invite and encourage parents to visit us before their child's appointment to get acquainted with the office and address any questions or concerns you may have. When you feel comfortable, your child feels comfortable too.

5 Simple Ways to Help Kids Have a Healthy Smile

  • Let your child choose their toothbrush. This personal choice makes brushing more enjoyable and something they can look forward to!
  • Brush your teeth together. It's a special bonding moment and sets a positive example for good hygiene habits.
  • Download child-friendly dental apps. There are many apps that can make dental care fun while promoting a positive attitude towards oral hygiene.
  • Swap sugary fruit juices for raw fruits and vegetables. Not only will they benefit from better nutrition, but they'll also have a much lower risk of cavities.
  • Use songs and games to make hygiene fun. Songs and games are important learning tools and can be enjoyable for both of you.
